Data Networking

Since 1992, the Riverside County Information Technology (RCIT) Communications Bureau has provided data communication services to the Departments and Agencies of the County of Riverside via our wide-area network - CORNET. These services have since grown in bandwidth speeds from 56Kb connections to high-speed DS-3 and fiber connections. Today, CORNET has become a mission critical service, not only to 86% of the County of Riverside's departments and agencies, but also to external County customers including cities, police departments, libraries and school districts. CORNET provides the means for e-mail, file transfers, remote access to centralized services and the Internet. Supporting almost 300 routers in service today, we strive to provide the best, cost effective and secured network in order to meet the demands and future planning of our customers.

Radio/Microwave

One of the most important tools used by Law Enforcement is radio communications. The Information Technology Department's Communication Bureau provides and supports the 800MHz radio services to our Sheriff's Department, as well as other law enforcement agencies in the County. We are continuing our efforts to upgrade this critical communication service in order to support the growing law enforcement requirements, including transmission of data to mobile vehicles, as well as provide future services to other non-law enforcement customers.
